Calculator data & processing

Calculations on duckkit.dev (including Kafka lag, rate limiting, and latency budgets) are processed in your browser. We do not transmit, store, or access the raw values you type into calculator fields on our infrastructure.

No calculator inputs are saved to a central database by duckkit.dev for the purpose of running these tools. We do not use your inputs to train machine learning models.

The "Share scenario" feature (URL encoding)

Some tools let you share a configured scenario via a link. When you use Share or copy a URL that includes encoded state, your inputs are serialized and encoded (for example as Base64) into the query string (e.g. ?s= or ?state=).

No server-side storage. Shared scenarios are not stored on our servers. The link contains the data needed to reconstruct the scenario.

Visibility. Anyone who can open the link can decode the payload and see the values that were encoded.

Security: do not put secrets in fields or share links

Because share data lives in the URL, do not enter sensitive information in calculator fields if you might copy or share the URL. That includes API keys, production passwords, internal IP addresses, customer personally identifiable information (PII), or regulated proprietary data.

Full URLs (including encoded state) may appear in browser history, corporate proxies, referrer logs, and similar systems outside our control.

Third-party analytics & logs

We or our hosting providers may use standard web analytics to understand traffic and performance. Those services may log the full URL of the page you visit, including any encoded scenario parameters.

If third-party analytics are enabled, processing of URLs and parameters is governed by those providers' privacy policies. Where available, use their opt-out or consent mechanisms according to your needs.

Data retention

Because we do not store calculator inputs in an application database for these tools, there is no duckkit.dev "retention period" for those values. Closing your tab or clearing the URL removes that instance from your session; analytics or infrastructure logs may still record page URLs according to provider settings.
